A SERVICE of REMEMBRANCE
for
those killed and injured in the
M62
Coach Bombing
on
4th February 1974
Sunday
3rd.February 2013
Welcome by The Mayor of Kirklees Cllr. David Ridgeway
Introduction
Remembering is an important part of what makes us human. Justice and
truth, healing and love, wisdom and learning are some of the others.
And so again this year, whilst the passage of time and the demands of
other events for the world's
attention and the huge changes in the political landscape in Britain
and Ireland mean that others have forgotten this tragedy
.we remember.
And this memorial is a focus for our remembering. It is also a physical
reminder to all who pass by this place, of the cost that those affected
by the bombing have paid,
in the cause of peace making.
Jesus said, ' Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called
children of God'
Reading
This is the vision of God's kingdom as told by the prophets Isaiah and
Micah, who both lived in times that could be described as 'The Troubles'.
It is a vision of hope to those tempted to despair in the face of evil.
One day.
