THE FIGHTING FUSILIERS
PRINTED IN NEWCASTLE JOURNAL ON 9TH NOVEMBER 1916 Some years ago our Government was seized with
sudden fears The Old Fusiliers, the Bold Fusiliers, cut down a whole battalion of the Fighting Fusiliers But time will have its changes, and produced some other
fears; Old Fusiliers, Bold Fusiliers, they called for more battalions of the Fighting Fusiliers When the Northmen heard the calling they responded with their cheers; And something more substantial came to join the Fusiliers- From the plough, and from the office, and from the mine came volunteers, From all sorts of occupations to enlist as Fusiliers And theyre fighting like the heroes who, in all
the bygone years, Old Fusiliers, Bold Fusiliers, every day theyre adding laurels to the Fighting Fusiliers May God protect the soldier laddies in the time of
blood and tears Old Fusiliers, Bold Fusiliers, heroes of our Northumberland; The Fighting Fusiliers |
